Taking Strides Through the Legal 500

There has been celebration across the offices of Dutton Gregory Solicitors, as various departments have learned of their maintained positions, progression, and debut in the rankings of professional industry guide, The Legal 500.

After submission, research and interview, the results of The Legal 500 for 2025 are in. Both the Medical Negligence and Family Law teams at Dutton Gregory have kept their position from the previous directory, employment specialist Daryl Cowan, who joined the firm this year, has retained his recommendation as ‘Leading Partner’, and Head of Family, Jonathan Whettingsteel, has been named ‘Next Generation Partner’.

Having made its debut in last year’s guide, the Commercial Litigation Team has gone from ‘One to Watch’ to taking an official place in the latest rankings.

‘To have followed through on the faith The Legal 500 showed in us last year is both satisfying and validating,’ says Head of Litigation and Partner, Andrew Witt. ‘Building upon our initial recognition with achievements and progression that have taken us up to the next level is a boost for the whole team.’

Teams new to this year’s listings are Commercial Property and, for the first time Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning, which has broken into the listings, being mentioned as ‘One to Watch.’

‘We are absolutely thrilled,’ says Head of WTEP, Emily Taylor. ‘No matter how hard you work on entries such as these, or how proud you are of the successes and testimonials you submit, there is always apprehension about how you will be perceived or compare to others.’

‘To have been highlighted as ‘One to Watch’ in our first ever attempt at being part of The Legal 500 has given us such a sense of accomplishment.  Now all we need to do is follow in the footsteps of the Litigation Team next year!’

‘We are tremendously proud of all the staff who have contributed to such a number and variety of mentions in The Legal 500,’ says Managing Partner, Paul Sams. ‘To see where how the firm’s achievements are regarded within the profession is not only a valuable exercise, but strengths both our reputation and ambition as we continue to grow.’
