Last Tuesday (25 September) saw the final Poole Dream Machines event of 2018, where just one Bike of the Night was crowned Bike of the Year.
A genuine 1960 650cc BSA Spitfire Scrambler was the winner of Poole's final Dream Machines. Chosen by spectators and riders, the winner was selected from this year's Bike of the Night winners who returned to compete for Bike of the Year, sponsored by Dutton Gregory, on the final night of the season.
The winner was Richard Stephens from Poole with his vintage BSA Spitfire Scrambler. Richard won £300, The Midge Holloway Trophy and a Valet Kit courtesy of Muc-Off. Cate Battson, Senior Marketing Executive at Dutton Gregory, was there to present the winners with their prizes.
Richard's bike is one of only about 1500 that were exclusively for the American market between 1957 and ’62. Although road legal, they were mainly used for long distance desert racing. The bike has been completely restored over the last two years.
The popular weekly event, sponsored by Dutton Gregory Solicitors, was organised and managed by the Poole & Bournemouth Tourism office and part of Poole’s Wave 105 Summertime in the South events programme.
